Bandit of Highland Dale
Red Highland Steer
Meet Bandit. He enjoys grazing in the area where Jesse James and his gang were involved in a gunfight. The incident began near a stable at a schoolhouse located west of the north-south road in the region. Farmer Corbit, who witnessed the event, described the day as cloudy and rainy. The gang mounted their horses in the stable and fled south after a brief exchange of gunfire. At least one shot struck a posse member's horse. The gang was later discovered near Freeland Boyer's farm, about 2.5 miles south of the original site, but an accidental early shot fired by a posse member allowed them to escape once more before they could be captured. - May 1871
Bandit was named by our grandson WB. This steer was born in 2024 under the leadership of Beauford Wilson.
