Dusty AAA Quality (t, PV, D), Dun Highland Cow

Dusty AAA Quality is a dun registered Highland cow, AHCA #73524, born February 20, 2019. Her dam is our herd matriarch, Finley Falls Phyllis, and her sire is Duncan II of Faye-AAA. She is the mother of Highland Dale Sam, and with champion bloodlines behind her, her calves are among the most photographed cattle on the farm.

How Dusty got her name

We’ll be honest: we first called her Dunce. She kept to herself, and we mistook her solitude for a lack of smarts. The longer we watched her, the more we saw how loyal she is to Phyllis’s family and how giving she is as a mother. Once we saw her kindness, we renamed her Dusty, for her beautiful dun coat.

Craig’s favorite

Dusty is the favorite of Craig, Ms. Em and Beauford’s son. She’s kind, a bit of a loner, and she’ll happily take a treat from his hand.
